Education

• Climate Change is one of many issues Catholics should examine before going to the polls. See the U.S. Biships Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship
• U.S Catholic Special Issue on the Environment devotes entire issue to God’s call to care for the earth, and includes CCCC Director’s article, “Change the Climate in Washington.”
• A Catholic Approach to Climate Change, a resource provided by CCCC as a way to respond to frequently asked questions raised in the context of our activities in the Catholic community.

Curriculum

• God’s Creation Cries for Justice, Climate Change: Impact and Response is an eight week curriculum containing faith and science resources aimed at addressing climate change in solidarity with the poor. Produced by CCCC in conjunction with JustFaith Ministries.
• The Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters in Monroe, MI, have put together a valuable teaching tool: a three-part, downloadable PowerPoint presentation on climate change, This Is Your Home with study guide for use in any educational setting. Go to their website to get a copy.

Reports on the Science of Climate Change

• Climate Change 101: Understanding and Responding to Global Climate Change by the Pew Center on the States contains reports that provide a reliable and understandable introduction. They cover climate science and impacts, technological solutions, business solutions, international action, action in the United States, and action taken by local governments.
• UNEP Yearbook 2008: An Overview of Our Changing Environment from the United Nations Environment Program contains an overview of the current science on climate change, maps of 2007 climate anomalies, and the feature focus "Putting the Pieces Together: Using Markets and Finance to Fight Global Climate Change."
• Climate Change: Everyone Talks About It. What Can Be Done About It? by Mark Pattison, Catholic News Service.
• Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the leading body for the assessment of climate changes, established by the World Meteorological Organization and the United Nations Environment Programme. It aims to provide a clear, balanced view of the present state of understanding.
• The Science of Global Climate Change provides a summary of the key points of a talk by Michael MacCracken of the Climate Institute at the National Catholic Rural Life Conference in Washington DC, February 2005.
